The Emerald Thieves are North East UK’s Premier Celtic Rock cover band
Designed to give an authentic taste of music normally only found in the bars and dancehalls of Dublin and Belfast.
Now based in County Durham, the Thieves are a five-piece band of talented folk, jazz and rock musicians from Ireland and the North East of England who perform an infectious mixture of Celtic and Contemporary music. Incorporating male and female vocals, electric fiddle, electric/acoustic guitars, mandolin, Hammond organ, piano, bass guitar and drums....One to both watch and dance to, this unique band is 100% live and consistently pleases guests of all ages and musical tastes.
With a first set based around popular fiddle-driven songs by the Pogues, Thin Lizzy, the Chieftains, Sharon Shannon, the Saw Doctors, the Dubliners, Van Morrison, Horslips and the Waterboys...the Thieves are guaranteed to get feet stomping and set the mood for a great night of live music and dancing.
The second set sees theband cover classic rock & pop tracks from the 1960’s to present day, whilst still employing electric fiddle to add Celtic flavour to tracks by Snow Patrol, Kings of Leon, Stereophonics, the Killers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Amy Winehouse, The Jam, Stevie Wonder and many more. You will not fail to be impressed by how versatile these musicians are.
This unique approach has made the Thieves a number one choice for large outdoor festivals, wedding receptions and corporate engagements all across the United Kingdom.
Emerald Thieves are confirmed as headline act at Keswick Annual Beer Festival on Saturday 5th June 2010. Up until their debut performance in 2007 no other band in the festivals' 14 year history had ever been asked back to play Keswick for a second time. However, after being continually voted ‘Best Band’ by the festival goers and organisers, 2010 is now the Thieves FOURTH consecutive appearance at Keswick; their second as headline act. The band is honoured to be able to perform again in front of the fantastic crowd at Keswick – an audience of 2500+ people..."The atmosphere in 2009 was electric and was definitely the highlight of the year"
August 2010 sees the band travel abroad for the first time to perform 21 consecutive nights at the 5-star, Royal Beach Hotel resort in Eilat, Israel.
