An authentic taste of music from the bars and music halls of Dublin and Belfast.
Based in County Durham, the Thieves are a band of talented folk, jazz and rock musicians from Ireland and England who perform an infectious mixture of Celtic and Contemporary music. Incorporating male and female vocals, electric fiddle, electric/acoustic guitars, mandolin, Hammond organ, piano, bass guitar and drums, this unique band is 100% live and consistently pleases audiences of all ages and musical tastes.
With a first set based around popular fiddle-driven songs by the Pogues, The Levellers, Thin Lizzy, The Chieftains, Steve Earle, the Saw Doctors, the Dubliners, Van Morrison, Horslips, Waterboys and the Charlie Daniels Band they are guaranteed to get feet stomping and set the mood for a great night of live music and dancing.
The second set sees the band employ electric fiddle to add Celtic flavour to classic rock & pop tracks from the 1960’s to present day. With an ever-increasing array of tracks by Van Morrison, Bob Marley, Paolo Nuitini, The Verve, Snow Patrol, Kings of Leon, Steely Dan, Mumford & Sons, Neil Young, Stereophonics, the Killers, REM, Deacon Blue, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Amy Winehouse, The Jam, Stevie Wonder and The Beatles you cannot fail to be impressed by the versatilty of this band. This unique approach has made Emerald Thieves a number one choice for large outdoor festivals, wedding functions and corporate events across the United Kingdom.
Emerald Thieves were the headline act at Keswick Beer Festival in 2009, 2010 and 2011 - playing to audiences in excess of 2500 people on each occasion. The band were also a surprise inclusion to the bill of the 21st annual MAG Bike Rally Stormin' the Castle in 2011 and again were greeted by over 2000 people who had crammed into the Iris Stage Tent to catch their set.
